SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — One day after Gov. Spencer Cox laid out the timeline for the special election to replace outgoing Congressman Chris Stewart, a slew of candidates are entering the race.

As of late Thursday afternoon, the list of Republican candidates who had filed with the Utah Elections Office included former Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes, Republican national committeeman for Utah Bruce Hough, and former Utah lawmaker and U.S. Senate candidate Becky Edwards.

January Walker, who unsuccessfully ran against Rep. Burgess Owens last year, has filed as a United Utah Party candidate.
