Believe it or not, there is bike infrastructure in Chicago! The Windy City has an 18 mile long multi-user pathway called The Lakefront Trail that's 18 miles long and accesses a lot of the cultural and recreational amenities in the city. There is a growing network of bike lanes on an extensive grid system of of surface streets, and best of all, the landscape is mostly flat! Traveling from Kathy Osterman beach on the North End all the way down to the Museum of Science and Industry on the South end at 69th street, the pathway extends for 18 miles, giving easy access to the Montrose Fields, Belmont Harbor, Lincoln Park, Oak Street Beach, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, the Field Museum, and tons more! Basically, a bicycle is sufficient transportation to see all the cool stuff in Chicago that exists along the shore of Lake Michigan. The Lakefront trail is exceedingly well maintained, so much so that people were roller skating on it, en masse.
