Deputy Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman inaugurated the Fire Service and Civil Defense Week by hoisting the national flag and flying balloons at the Thakurgaon District Deputy Assistant Director's Office on Thursday.

A discussion meeting was held at the end of the inauguration. Deputy Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman addressed the meeting as the chief guest. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jahangir Hossain spoke as the special guest. Deputy Assistant Director Farhad Hossain presided over the function.

Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said members of the fire service do not just work as firefighters. They are also engaged in rescue work in case of any accident in civil defense. They also do rescue work to save the lives of animals we despise. There are many such incidents. At the risk of people, at the risk of animals, the members and officers of this fire service and civil defense jump in and do the work with their maximum strength. Many of us don't know these people, so he personally thinks they need more publicity and promotions and he hopes to cooperate with them in any need.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jahangir Hossain said the fire service and civil defense are carrying out awareness activities not only in times of danger but also to prevent danger. So he wished them all the best.

In his presidential address, Deputy Assistant Director Farhad Hossain mentioned their various activities.

Also present on the occasion were various officers and members including Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer Sarwar Hossain.

At the end of the discussion, a mechanical rally came out from Thakurgaon Fire Service and Civil Defense Station, went around the main roads of the city and ended at the same place.
