Police are investigating after a man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound on Tuesday evening in Canton.

Canton's police chief, John Gabbard, said officers were called around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, to a home at 1647 St. Elmo Ave NE for a welfare check.

When they arrived, they found 41-year-old Jake Young deceased.

The Canton Police Department said the case remains under investigation.
