What is the true purpose of education? Is it restricted to merely equipping children to earn a living? Or is it to provide an immersive experience that creates resilient individuals? Drawing parallels to its modern counterpart in the sombre context of COVID-19, Dr R. Balasubramaniam deconstructs the Gurukula system of education into its unique content, methodology and values which had contributed to India's prosperity throughout its pre-colonial existence. A doctor by profession and a socio-development activist by passion, Dr R. Balasubramaniam (Balu) is a man of many accolades. Balu is a social innovator, writer, leadership trainer, and the founder of two NGOs - GRAAM (Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement) and SVYM - Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement. He is a physician who has specialized in Public Administration from Harvard University.
