After speaking to the New York State safety act hotline we come to find out fixed magazine as a whole in ar platforms is a grey area , regardless of it you have it epoxied in and would require a drill , because the wordage reads ability to take a detachable magazine so they could argue at one point it could take one , but at the same time it’s so grey one could argue do they consider the firearm a weapon to begin with while disassembled , we know Californias gun law specifies ability to not take a detachable magazine without breaking of the firearms action , New York only states ability to take detachable magazine they do not specify if it’s regardless if the weapon magazine can be removed with disassembly of the action they do not make this clear leaving this to be a grey area , and I believe it’s solely done to scare any would be law abiding citizens in getting a a ar platforms rifle , and they haven’t from what I’ve been told even went after anyone with this so we will have to wait for someone to get arrested and new legislation to be formed , this is what I was told by the official safe act hotline , that they don’t even know what the exact law is , this is not to say that fixed magazine Ars are not legal but it’s to say it’s a grey area and it could be looked at in a certain way and it could put thousands of law abiding citizens in harms way of a long legal battle , that could be a ultimate win in the end but who wants to risk that if not a big pro 2A team ,
