Homeless Persons Union Victoria's 'Homelessness Speak Out'

Bringing together community to speak out against the ‪@MelbourneCityCouncil‬ private security program with Crownland Security, which has targeted the CBD's unhoused community, moving them on from public spaces, destroying their bedding and meagre possessions, swearing at them and generally being unprofessional. This behaviour includes council local laws officers.

After the Speak Out we entered the Future Melbourne council meeting and presented 9 x audio testimonies to all council members and the CEO from people without safe and secure shelter in the city. Our testimonies were presented alongside numerous other submissions made from community legal centres, community members and others with lived expereince of homelessness.

These submissions were invited by council's democratic process in which they claim to review submissions and amend their plans if required.
