This rescue video features a horse that was slowly starving before being surrendered to the Roane County Animal Shelter in Spencer, WV. (Roaneshelter on fb). The shelter, upon hearing the horse was being surrendered, reached out to West Virginia Horse Network for assistance. West Virginia Horse Network came to the rescue, and took the horse (formerly named "Luna", but she got a new name to go with her new life- she is now called "Snapple") into their care for rehabilitation and rehoming.

This video was posted 2 weeks after Snapple's rescue, and I am happy to say, she is already gaining weight and improving quickly!

West Virginia Horse Network is a non-profit organization that focuses on rehabilitating and rehoming at risk equines in the Mountain State. They were founded in October 2014 to help ensure the welfare of horses in the Mountain State. The idea to start WVHN was sparked when the people who would soon make up the membership of West Virginia Horse Network, INC., rallied passionately around a senior horse in need. They received their In December 2014 federal 501(c)3 tax exempt organization status in December 2014. They are also fully committed to being proactive in preventing equine abuse and neglect through hands on education.
