The large black ink drawings are from Atlanta artist William Downs, whose “Truth in Body” is on display through Dec. 22 at Baylor University’s Martin Museum of Art in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center.

Downs created “Slow Dance,” the sprawling floor-to-ceiling work at the heart of his exhibit, last week, starting with a single graphic line “across the white void” of the gallery wall, then thinking how to fill the two sections with people and objects.

“I make a plan, then remove myself from the plan and my imagination kicks in,” he explained.
