Episode 17 | We were scammed by our contractor for €20.000 and not getting our money back. Thanks for all your heartwarming comments and tips on our previous video. The total payment for renovating the roof and the outer walls was set to €70.000. We do have a signed contract. We paid €20k in advance (via bank transfer), he put up the scaffolding, but never started the work.
One day, he came by and said he was not able to do the works and took away the scaffolding. We were expecting our money returned, but he is not willing to do this. Although we try to get it back and have a lawyer helping us, it seems that we will lose, even in court.
The roof is leaking, so we ask new contractor. Unfortunately, prices are going up and together with the moment lost, this will take the largest part of our total renovation budget.
