This is the first work in a series of works in which the Thomas Hummel deals with the russian clergyman and writer Pawel Adelgeim. Adelgeim lived in Pskov and was murdered in 2013. In the time of soviet union, he was known as dissident and fighter for religious freedom. After the dissolution of the soviet union, he became a critic of the new relation between orthodox church and state. The poem Vermächtnis is in the form of an Our Father and has autobiographical traits. The poet looks back on his life.

Thomas Hummel has set contemporary Russian-language literature to music in many works. With Vermächtnis he has composed a work of contrasts. One voice against six percussionists. There is calm in the voice and constant restlessness in the percussion. The voice is missing for long periods of time, and then it reappears, almost forgotten. In addition to the real percussionists, virtual percussionists can also be heard over the loudspeakers, subtly condensing the work and making it rhythmically more precise.
