Episode Summary:

Quinn, well, Quinn’s a good guy who just wanted to make it big in New York. If he could make it there, he could make it anywhere. But New York isn’t just the big apple, it’s also the city of broken dreams. Until, that is, he sees his chance, grand theft. He breaks into the office of his place of work shortly after dusk. His plan is successful, he gets a few thousand. But, remember, he’s a good guy, and now, he just feels terrible. All of his hopes are shattered, he’s alone in the big city, and he’s turned into a low-down criminal. In this state, he bumps into Ricki. They hit it off, Ricki, it turns out, is from Glen Falls, Iowa, the same small town as Quinn. She too has failed in her New York aspirations. She was going to be big on Broadway, instead she’s a low rent hoofer. Quinn tells her about the money. She convinces him to put the money back and they can both return to Glen Falls. They have to be quick, a bus leaves at dawn.
They go to return the money, that’s when they find the dead body. Quinn is the obvious suspect. Against all odds, Ricki sticks with him. They must find out who killed this man by dawn or else Quinn goes to prison and Ricki goes absolutely nowhere. Two kids in love against all of New York. They need something to go on, some clues, anything. The phone rings, it’s the girlfriend of the dead man . . .

The host of the program was Geoffrey Barnes, a self described “ connoisseur of mysteries”. The program had many radio professionals in the episodes, Elspeth Eric, Joseph Julien, Frank Lovejoy, and others all appeared. In 1947 Molle dropped its sponsorship, and the program changed its name to The Mystery Theatre and was sponsored by Sterling Drugs.
