WHAT ARE THE INDIANA DUNES — DUNES 101: ORIENTATION
In this series, we explore the ins and outs of the Indiana Dunes to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.

Located along the southern tip of Lake Michigan, the Indiana Dunes occupies 15 miles of shoreline, attracting millions of visitors every year. The Dunes were formed when glaciers receded 14,000 years ago, leaving white, sandy beaches that actually sing when you walk on them. These beaches are placed among the best in the U.S. and the dunes are the top attraction in the state of Indiana.
