Water: Water snake plants every two weeks, allowing the soil to completely dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering and root rot. In the winter, water once a month if the soil is still moist after two weeks.

Temperature: Snake plants like temperatures between 70–90°F (21–32°C).

Soil: Plant snake plants in a container with a well-draining potting mix.

Division: This is the best way to propagate snake plants that have grown very big. Use a sharp knife or pruner to cut the tightly tangled root ball apart, creating divisions with at least three leaves and accompanying roots. Plant each division in moist potting mix in a container with drainage holes.

Propagation: Snake plants can be propagated from individual leaves, by seed, or by rooting a frond in water.

Here are some steps for propagating a snake plant from a leaf cutting in water:

Select a healthy, mature leaf.
Cut the leaf at a 45-degree angle.
Place the bottom of the leaf-cutting in water, covering 25% of the leaf-cutting.
Keep it in sufficient indirect sunlight.
Change the water weekly.
Once the leaf cuttings have developed roots, move the cuttings to the soil. Roots should be just over an inch long before you move them to soil.
Prepare a small pot with drainage holes and a sandy, well-draining potting mix.
Plant the rooted cuttings or pups in the soil, fully burying the roots.
