GMES TRAINING AT KMFRI MOMBASA HQ

KMFRI Mombasa Headquarters hosted a dynamic five-day training workshop on Marine Aquaculture in Kenya Training and Capacity Building. The event was held from the 5th to 8th August, 2024 and it brought together over 25 participants from KMFRI and Kenya Fisheries Services.

The training’s objective was to equip the participants with knowledge on where to find and visualize appropriate satellite datasets and products for environmental parameters relevant to marine aquaculture. Participants were also brought up to speed on finding and accessing relevant data from Copernicus Marine Services, as well as analyzing these data in a cloud-based programming environment. Practical examples include using Sea Surface Temperature, Turbidity, and physics datasets to produce aquaculture site suitability maps for the country
