Ingredients For Crispy Soy Garlic Tofu
600 g extra-firm tofu, liquids drained (no pressing required)
3 tbsp vegetable oil or any neutral oil
4–5 tbsp cornstarch or potato starch (add more if needed)
Handful of spring onion greens, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
1 tsp sesame seeds, for garnish

For the Sauce
3–4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp regular soy sauce
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp vegan oyster sauce or hoisin sauce
2 tsp mirin or dry sherry (optional)
2 tsp rice vinegar or white vinegar
2 tbsp cornstarch, potato starch, or tapioca starch
1 tbsp chili crisp or crushed chili in oil
3/4 cup water, at room temperature (add more if needed)
