Описание к видео Siege Of Nara(1180 AD) | Taira Clan VS Warrior Monks | Total War Historical Battle

The Siege of Nara took place as part of the Genpei War of 1180-1185. Taira forces, under the command of Taira no Shigehira, advanced towards the former imperial capital of Nara. They sought to control the temples of Kôfukuji and Tôdaiji, which had been opposing the Taira clan both in terms of military and political influence. According to the Heike monogatari, the Taira forces, led by Shigehira, may have comprised as many as 10,000 warriors. These temples were defended by a group of warrior monks, and the epic tale mentions their number to be around 7,000, none of whom were mounted on horses.
