Host Michael Mann and Orthogonal’s Chief Solutions Officer Randy Horton interviewed Venk Varandan, CEO and Founder of Nanowear, on how his company’s full-body monitoring solution is poised to ride current trends in society and technology:

Nanowear’s cloth-based nanotechnology device uses billions of tiny sensors to holistically measure body signals, allowing for a full metabolic assessment while patients go about their daily lives. Venk believes taking these measurements outside of the doctor’s office will result in cleaner readings that can better inform patient health.
Our society is increasingly invested in measuring health markers using connected medical devices and digital health apps, which Venk identifies as the commodification of healthcare. Nanowear’s wearable device fits this trend, working in tandem with popular devices and treatments like continuous glucose monitors and GLP-1 injections.
Nanowear developed its flagship product nine years ago as a combination sensor, medical device, software, hardware and AI product, without knowing how those technologies would rapidly develop in sync with one another. While some of their foresight was based on learning from health monitoring devices like the Fitbit, Venk ascribes Nanowear’s success to fortunate timing, investing in the right technologies at the right time.
