THE RISE OF TECHNOLOGY & ART: Witness the incredible leap forward into the Metal Age with the rise of the Dong Son culture. We'll take a deep dive into their mastery of bronze-casting, focusing on the magnificent and enigmatic Dong Son drums, whose intricate designs tell a story of a vibrant society. Learn about their seafaring prowess and the vast trade networks they established thousands of years ago.

THE INDIGENOUS CIVILIZATION: Most importantly, this episode reveals the soul of the civilization that thrived before major outside influence. We'll reconstruct their world, exploring their unique social structures (including the surprisingly high status of women), their rich spiritual beliefs in animism and ancestor worship, and the material foundations of their society, from sophisticated wet-rice farming to unique local crafts like batik and gamelan.
