How to speed up your editing workflow in Lightroom in 2024

Описание к видео How to speed up your editing workflow in Lightroom in 2024

There are multiple different ways to streamline your editing workflow in Lightroom and Photoshop. In this video I share with you a specific process that has helped me speed up my edit workflow significantly.

1 - Filter your photos into a rating based selection. I use the stars system.
2 - Start with 2 stars and quickly scroll through your photos using the arrow keys, hitting the 2, number key, every time you think you've got a good photo.
3 - If you think it's better than 2, hit 3, or even 4.
4 - Once you've gone through your entire batch you can then filter your selection to show only the photos you've starred. This will immediately create a smaller batch of photos to focus on.
5 - Press 'control or command A' to select all and then apply the 'Auto' edit in the develop module. This will generate a Global edit, which Adobe software believes is the most balanced version of your image across almost all settings. This is the base I begin editing from, sometimes.
6 - Begin to edit the photos in a more 'Local' style, focusing on only the portions of the photo you want to edit. If you decide the auto button result looks bad, you can always hit the reset button to go back to the original and begin again.

Somethings I forgot to mention in this video that help batch editing workflow speeds:

Copy and Paste your develop settings: Using this tool you can edit one photo, copy all your settings, and then paste them across multiple similar photos. This is also very useful with colour correction and grading. I do this often with video editing.

Use Import Presets: I typically don't do this BUT one import preset I like is 'Remove Chromatic Aberration'. You can also apply any metadata and any other develop settings during import to reduce repetitive tasks.

Custom Preset Panels: Save and organize your most-used tools and preset panels in the develop module. This I have done already and forgot to mention.

Enable GPU Acceleration: Ensure your system's GPU is used for image processing in Preferences, then under Performance.
