Hey stalkers,

After watching movies and playing games, we use to think that post-apocalyptic sceneries are scary because there are many threats awaiting you when you’re exploring them.

However, the truth is that much scarier is the feeling when you have no idea if the real threat is around you. This is how radiation works – you can’t touch it, you can’t smell it, you can’t see it coming. In every second of being in the contaminated area, you can only constantly keep imagining that with every breath you’re inhaling more and more of the dose that leads to the inevitable end.

And then comes the real horror – the moment when you realize that everything you see around has been left because of the fear of radiation. Every abandoned object is proof that somebody’s life was damaged by the uncontrolled chaos that arose after the catastrophe. Chernobyl Zone is a dead place not because of radiation, but because of fear of radiation.

The scary things that we are putting inside Chernobylite are usually not the events and actions, but the feelings related to this specific place and atmosphere. We’ve figured out that we don’t need to design a lot of them on our own because the only thing we have to do is to bring them into your attention.
