I thought it was a good idea to test my Black ass in Poland — knowing the Black population is less than 5%.

Everyone said don’t go.
“They don’t like people like you there.”
“You’ll stick out like Guinness in a glass of milk.”
They said it would be dangerous.

But I still booked. And this wasn’t just a holiday — this was a social experiment.

From being the only Black person on the plane, to the stares in the streets and pools, to moments where I genuinely questioned if I was safe — Poland had me on edge. But it also surprised me. The reality? Not everyone’s racist. Some people are just curious. Some are welcoming. Some vibes were off, but some were genuinely calm.

This is my unfiltered experience of travelling whilst Black in Poland.
