In this installment of the "How To" series, Louis Pilloni and Jackson Shapiera talk about each style of wheel.

These ususally come with beveled/rounded edges, and is usually meant for loosing traction, any where from slow to high speeds. It is also your everyday wheel for shredding the streets. Sometimes these wheels will even come with a stone ground finish to remove "break in" time and allow you to throw steezy slides right out of the box and not have to work for it.

These wheels have a wider contact patch and have sharp lips further away from the core that provide more traction because they flex and form to the road. Generally a downhill, race or fast freeriding wheel, meant more for traction, pumping and holding speed.

Fast "Mountain" Freeride Wheel: http://www.muirskate.com/longboard/wh...

Similar to the Freeride Wheels mentioned above, this style of wheel also has beveled/rounded edges. They are usually centerset, and come with a wider contact patch to provide more grip for slide control at high speeds. Perfect for throwing high speed standups on your favorite downhill run.
