Creating a butterfly using the art of origami is a delightful and creative process! Here’s how to make an origami butterfly:

Materials Needed:

A square piece of origami paper (any color you like)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Start with a Square Paper:

Place the paper with the colored side facing up (if your paper has two different sides).
Fold Diagonally:

Fold the paper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Crease well, then unfold.
Fold the paper in half diagonally the other way to form another triangle. Crease well and unfold.

Fold the paper in half horizontally to form a rectangle. Crease well, then unfold.
Fold the paper in half vertically to form another rectangle. Crease well and unfold.

Using the creases as guides, bring the horizontal and vertical creases together so that the paper collapses into a triangular shape with two flaps.
Create the Butterfly Wings:

Take one of the top corners of the triangle and fold it down to the bottom point of the triangle. Do this for both top corners, making sure they meet neatly at the bottom.
Flip the paper over and fold the top corner down so that it slightly extends past the bottom edge (about 1/4 inch).
Shape the Body and Wings:

Fold the bottom point upward, folding it over the little point extending past the bottom. This will help lock the folds in place.
Now, fold the entire shape in half lengthwise, bringing the two sides together with the folds on the outside.
Final Wing Shaping:

To shape the wings, carefully spread them apart and adjust to create a butterfly shape. Gently crease the wings to give them a more realistic appearance.
