This is how The Bar came together. In August 2016, Mark Henry received a shot at the US Title. Mick Foley got confronted by Sheamus, regarding that decision. Cesaro interrupted, saying that nobody wants to see Sheamus challenge for the title. Foley put them in a match and whoever impresses him, will receive a title shot, where Cesaro won with the Neutralizer. They had a rematch a week later, where Cesaro rolled up Sheamus for the win. Foley was in the ring. US Champion Rusev interrupted. Cesaro also interrupted, telling Foley to give him his shot, who said that Sheamus almost had him. Cesaro thought he’s a man of his word and Foley gave it to him. Sheamus intervened and Rusev retained. A week later, Sheamus faced Sami Zayn. Cesaro distracted Sheamus and Sami hit him with the Helluva Kick to win the match. Sheamus and Cesaro were arguing backstage, Foley stopped them and put them in a best of seven series, with the winner getting a title shot. Sheamus made it 1-0 on the Summerslam kick-off. He made it 2-0 next week on Raw. He made it 3-0 a week later. Cesaro beat Sheamus at a house show to make it 3-1. Cesaro made it 3-2 on Raw and a week later, he made it even. The last match was at Clash of Champions. Both of them went over the barricade and neither of them could continue, ending in a draw. On Raw, Foley gave them a shot at the Raw Tag Titles. Then they faced Nick Cutler and Willis Williams. Cesaro went for the Neutralizer, Sheamus hit Willis with the Brogue Kick and Cutler followed. Cesaro told him he had it and they won the match. Sheamus got in front of Cesaro and they started arguing. A week later, they were forced to drive together. They started arguing and Cesaro tossed Sheamus’ luggage. Foley made them ride together because he believes in them. Then they faced Mark Carradine and Raul White. Cesaro jumped over him and caught Raul with a DDT. They started arguing and Sheamus hit Mark with the Brogue Kick to win the match. A week later, Kofi Kingston beat Cesaro, who then blamed Sheamus for it and he had enough. Next week, Cesaro was filming Sheamus, Big E crushed him in the corner and rolled him up to win the match. A week later, Sheamus and Cesaro faced The New Day in a non-title match. Big E threw Kofi outside, Cesaro caught him with an uppercut and Sheamus hit Big E with the Brogue Kick to win the match. They got their shot at Hell in a Cell, where Kofi, who wasn’t in the match, hit Sheamus with the Trouble in Paradise, ending in a DQ. Then they argued again. They were in a battle royal on Raw. They seemed to get along, Sheamus turned on him, but it was Cesaro who threw him out, who got eliminated by Braun Strowman and they started arguing again. Then they faced The Shining Stars. Cesaro took out Primo and Sheamus tapped out Epico to win the match. Next week, they were chosen for Team Raw, they were the sole survivors at Survivor Series and they were slowly getting along. They got another shot on Raw. Kofi tapped out from the sharpshooter but Xavier distracted the ref and Kofi rolled up Cesaro to retain the titles. A week later, Cesaro and Sheamus met in a bar. They finally accepted the fact that the team wouldn’t work. The guys from the bar had a problem with them, they beat them together and had a pint together. Next week, they faced Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows for a chance at the titles, where a huge brawl started, ending in a no contest. It was a triple threat next week. Kofi hit Sheamus with the Trouble in Paradise to retain the titles. At Tribute to the Troops, Cesaro and Sheamus won a match and they got a shot at Roadblock. They faked a tag, Kofi hit Cesaro with the Trouble in Paradise, went for the pin, Sheamus caught him and pinned him to win the titles.
