We spent a perfect weekend showing our friends from Florida some of our favorite spots in Santa Cruz and Carmel by the Sea! From coffee stops in Los Gatos, a walk along West Cliff Drive, to pizza, ice cream, and coastal views, this trip had it all.

After exploring downtown Santa Cruz, grabbing a slice at Pizza My Heart, and stopping at Marianne’s Ice Cream, we headed south to Carmel by the Sea. We checked into the Carmel Bayview Inn, enjoyed dinner at Vesuvio’s, and walked through town soaking in the Christmas lights and charm.

he highlight of the weekend was hiking at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. This included dramatic cliffs, turquoise water, cypress trees, crashing waves, and even barking sea lions. It’s easily one of the most beautiful places on the California coast.

We wrapped up the trip with roadside tacos, our friends’ first experience eating tacos like this! 🌮 If you’re planning a California coast weekend getaway, this Santa Cruz to Carmel trip is full of ideas.
