Situated North of Chillenden in Kent, Chillenden windmill is a grade II listed, open-trestle post mill.

The windmill was built in 1868 to replace an earlier mill that had blown down.
This new mill incorporated materials from the old one.
A new stock and two new sails were fitted in 1927 and the mill itself was working until 1949. At this time it lost a sail in gale force winds.
The mill was bouth in December 1957 for the sum of £100 and restored at a cost of £728. Howver during the restoration, some machinery was removed.

in 2003, the windmill collapsed. This was thought to be due to one of the four piers that supported the mill had sunk in to the ground over time. The mill being in a fixed position and not facing in to the wind at the time was also a factor.

Wreckage was dismantled in December 2003 and put in to storage while its future was decided. In March 2004 it was announced that the mill would be rebuilt on site. The work included newquarterbars and crosstresses. A new windshaft, breast and tail of the mill along with weatherboarding all over.

Four new sails were also made to replace those on the mill at the time of its collapse. Work had begun in May 2005 and in September of the same year, the mill opened once again to visitors.

The mill stands on high ground and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and fields.
