Wagons on a budget - Yorkshire Dales Model Railway

Dapol unpainted mineral wagons are £6.50 each compared to £18-£20 for recent Bachmann releases. Personally, I can’t justify the cost of Bachmann wagons when with minimal time and effort the Dapol wagons can be made to look just as good for a third of the cost.

Even taking into account the cost of paints and powders, these still work out miles cheaper and are a great way to build up some long rakes while sticking to budget.

Cost of Bachman rake: £160
Cost of Dapol rake: £62 (£52 + £10 for paints)
