I've been wanting to go through my Derwent Inktense Pencils and revisit the dark colors for using with line and wash watercolor painting, and since I was doing it, why not do a quick speed painting video for those that are interested.

Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils are great for line and wash, they dissolve easily and can be completely absorbed into the painting as desired. They hold a pretty good point and are water resistant once they've been activated and dried, which helps with layering and glazing washes later.

Faber Castell's Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils are also good for this, and I still sit on the fence sometimes about which is my favorite.

The little doodle at the end of the video is made using Inktense Charcoal Grey for the line work and a few artists' grade watercolor paints. The paper is Arteza Mixed Media 110 pound.
