For six years Chef Emma Hearst and Managing partner Sarah Krathen ran this lovely Italianish spot on what was back then a very dicey mixed use stretch of The Lower East Side on Allen St a few doors down from a tire repair shop. Next store they had a tiny gelateria called Stellina.

Native New Yorkers and friends since their childhoods growing up on The Upper East Side, Chefs Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow opened this first location of The Meatball Shop on Stanton Street in 2010 on The Lower East Side. Who knew that with a menu of just meatballs served in a variety of ways, they would have a huge hit on their hands and be packed from day #1.
