Warning! You MUST use Erasmian Pronunciation for this Koine Greek Verb ***έω

Τhe verb form of the noun γάμος / wedding no longer means "to marry". It has a rude meaning and is not normally used in polite company. So if you wish to practise your Koine Greek in front of Modern Greek-speakers do not use this verb. It is better to use παντρεύομαι / I marry or παντρεύτηκα / I got married or Είμαι παντρεμένος / Είμαι παντρεμένη / I'm married

In English, the word "polygamy" is derived from polys "many" + gamos "marriage". Like wise, "monogamy" from monos "single" + gamos "marriage".
The word "gamete" is also related to "gamos".
