pleeease consider supporting! life is hard and music is ill-paying 😇

LOVE/HOPE/DISGUST is a collection of moody, aggressive pop rock DELTARUNE arrangements that reflect the main character Kris' plight--that of being controlled against their will by the player. I wanted the music to convey how the original songs might feel through Kris' strained POV. I also wanted every track to be a straight banger ;^)

My other goal with this project was to explore pop song structures and Vocaloid producer palettes, specifically the work of Inabakumori. They're easily my favourite artist at the moment. One of these days, I'm going to start my own Vocaloid project, so LOVE/HOPE/DISGUST was first and foremost a great learning opportunity.

Thanks for listening, I hope it resonates~~~

------special thanks/credits

thank you Inabakumori, for inspiring me and this project. Without Ina's style and songs, this album simply wouldn't exist.

the beautiful art is by @AkyZura , also on twitter at   / akyzurathey   did a fantastic job capturing the essence of the music, and this album wouldnt be complete without it

this album would be soooo much worse without the help of my lovely and patient friends, @hyquo and @Brotad (snow chant). their incredible insights save my life and my sanity all the time and i am always immensely grateful

Blurbs about da tracks:

Each track is primarily inspired by a different Inabakumori song.

Field of Hopes and Dreams: Inspired by Lag Train. I pictured Kris laying down in the Scarlet Forest, lost in thought, the wind tussling their hair. It came out sounding energetic, but in a reserved way. Like a balance between Kris' restlessness at their situation, and their burning desire for a better future. I figured it would serve as a nice introduction to the album thanks to the subdued feeling. :)

BIG SHOT: Inspired by Secret Elementary School Student. This one embodies the frantic anxiety Kris must be feeling--it's the thesis of the project, in my opinion. I desperately wanted it to be perfect, and I don't think I succeeded . . . but it's my favourite arrangement of the bunch, anyway. SESS was the first Ina song I encountered and I treasure it deeply, so I wanted to respect it best I could.

Smart Race: Inspired by COOLER GIRL. This arrangement has a harsh, irritated mood, so I'd say it represents the Kris that rips out their Heart at the end of chapter one. It's the one chance so far Kris has had to actually express their anger, after all. I'll admit it sounds kind of "cool", too, but I suppose that's the price you pay for "catchy" . . . ?

My Castle Town: Inspired by Post Shelter. The breather of the album. It represents Kris' weariness, and perhaps their regret at not being able to fully appreciate some of the happier moments of the journey (like building the Castle Town). It was a challenge to stay restrained while still being interesting, but I think it came out pretty clean. 😇

Rude Buster: Inspired by Loop Spinner. This is definitely the most 'fun' track on the album, but I think it still fits the theme. It's probably best interpreted as another peak into Kris' anxiety or anger what with all the downwards melodic phrases. If BIG SHOT isn't my favourite on the album, this one is. I simply think it bangs.

A Cyber's World: Inspired by The stars get dark. The arrangement has two halves (thanks to Ina's structure that I referenced)--a more anticipatory half, and an uplifting half. I envisioned this one as being the burgeoning of true 'Hope' within Kris to try and change their situation. DELTARUNE as a story isn't finished yet, but I have a feeling Kris will find their happy ending. There's also a little bit of 'Welcome to the City' in here~

Attack of the Killer Queen: Inspired by Float Play. This is a radically different interpretation of Killer Queen, so I expect it to be the most divisive track on the album. I prioritized a feeling of emotional finality over fully respecting the source. It represents Kris' anguish--they still have a long way to go before they can break free of the player's control, after all. Hang in there, Kris!

Dummy!: Inspired by Billow of Fireworks and Anticyclone. The first track I made for this project to test out the style. In a way, I see it as a celebration and capstone to Emdasche--Dummy! (2015) remains my most popular work, and I might not have attained the modest audience I enjoy now without it. Thank you for listening all this time!
