1 : HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE PLATYS TO BREED?

ANS : Platies do not have an overly long life span and most will live to a maximum age of three years in a home aquarium, though there are rare cases of them living five years or longer. They reach maturity quickly though, and will be ready to breed in as short as four months of age.

2 : HOW MANY BABIES DO PLATY FISH HAVE AT A TIME?

ANS : The fry are born one at a time, tail first. While a normal batch is from eight to 20, your female can give birth to as many as 40 fry. The entire process lasts a few hours, but do not be surprised if it goes on for a longer span of time. Your female can give birth to additional fish over the next few days or weeks .

3 : DO PLATY FISH EAT THEIR BABIES?

ANS : Because platies do eat their young, you will end up with the greatest number of surviving fry if you purchase a separate tank for them to live in while they grow. A separate aquarium for your fry can be purchased at most pet stores .
