To survive, the farmers have a unique way. They collect water hyacinths and various aquatic plants, pile them together, then compress them until they form a floating raft. The natural fibrous texture and air pockets of water hyacinths make them an ideal material—lightweight, strong, and able to stay afloat on the water’s surface.
On top of the floating raft, farmers sprinkle a mixture of mud and decomposed organic materials. This layer functions as a fertile growing medium. Immediately after that, vegetable seeds are sown. Over time, the raft slowly decomposes in the water, releasing essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. This makes the plants grow healthy and fertile without relying on chemical fertilizers. This is proof that creativity can flourish, even in the middle of a flood.
