One of the most famous and likely most over rated of all trails near West Yellowstone (IMHO). I believe hype exceeds deliverables in this area but it does attract the most visitors of all the local trails so it must either have something I do not get OR simply over advertised.
I would consider this trail OK for beginners and generally groomed every night as it is one of the most used trails in the area. On the plus side the trail does give access to a good number of easy to see and easy to reach powder fields.
Views are good when the sky is clear as from here you can see Wyoming’s Tetons, Idaho’s Centennial Mountains, Lionshead in Montana, and Yellowstone National Park.
When the temps are cooler this is where in the morning you can find the snow ghosts.
It is a very good route to take to get into Idaho and the Island Park trail system.
