Heading east from New Tingri over several Himalayan passes to Tibet's second city of Shigatse. The next day we continue east following the Yarlung Zangbo and Lhasa rivers to Tibet's capital Lhasa. Lhasa is one of the world's highest cities at around 3700m and is the site of the spectacular Potala Palace, the traditional home of the Dalai Lamas.
