Cancro: sradicarlo da dentro.

Michele Maio has invested the majority of his life on cancer research and gives a powerful speech on the great results that immunotherapy has had in defeating certain types of cancer. Michele Maio is among the pioneers of cancer immunotherapy, the branch of oncology aimed at treating cancer through the stimulation of the immune system. Since October 2017 he has been in charge of the CIO, Centre for Immuno-Oncology at the University Hospital of Siena and since 2018, he has been appointed as Full Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Siena.
From 1983 to 1989 he worked at the New York Medical College. Back in Italy, at the age of 31 he became head of the Cancer Bio-immunotherapy Unit of the Cancer Center of Aviano (CRO). In 2004 is the Director of the Medical Oncology and Immunotherapy of the University Hospital of Siena where he is presently the Director of the Centre for Immuno-Oncology.
Prof. Maio is President of the NIBIT Foundation. In 2017 he published, with Agnese Codignola, “Il Corpo Anticancro” (The anticancer body). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
