Midlothian - DFW’s fabulous and most underrated Southern Star! Exploding with new homes and retail everywhere, if this city hasn’t caught your eye yet, it’s time to start looking!

With a growth rate of 121% from 2000 to 2010 and a population that’s almost doubled in the last 11 years, many are saying this southern town of 38,000 will soon become DFW’s new Frisco. However, the city once known only for its large cement factories has not yet given up its country charm. At 64 square miles, the city is 3 square miles bigger than its northern counterpart of Frisco, yet almost 200,000 less in population. It’s not hard to see the country town identity Midlothian holds onto so easily. Just a quick visit to the small downtown area full of cute boutiques and shopping would do the trick.

Bursting with new construction, one of the new neighborhoods Midlothian has to offer is Massey Meadows. It’s also one of the few new construction neighborhoods north of 287. A quiet neighborhood not too close to the highway, you can find home lots of around 0.17 to 0.2 acres with a few small trees per property. Homes around the $400,000 range offer brick and stone exteriors, carriage style garage doors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, an open concept living area and gorgeous covered patios.

Somewhat new, this neighborhood is still building, meaning new homes are more and more customizable. On the other hand, it also means active construction within your neighborhood. However, the walking distance to the best high school and middle school in the city might make up for it. This community boasts many Bloomfield Homes. One advantage of this is Bloomfield Homes’ ‘a deal is a deal’ policy. Many construction companies will add clauses in their contracts allowing them to adjust the price of the home based on rising construction costs. Bloomfield Homes boasts a contract price guarantee.

Our next stop is the Autumn Run community. This neighborhood is a closeout with only a few new construction homes left. While this saves you from the burdens of close construction, it also means your custom options are pretty much gone. With prices ranging from $460,000 to $572,000, this community offers all of the same amenities as the previous one plus similar lot sizes and small trees. Roughly 90% of new construction neighborhoods in Midlothian offer small lots with young trees. However, there are more affluent neighborhoods like Azalea Hollow that boast larger lots with plenty of mature grown trees.

Although many of these neighborhoods don’t have the most beautiful of landscaping, they do have shiny new gorgeous homes just minutes away from the highway and tons of retail. Autumn Run in particular also has many playgrounds and walking trails within its bounds.

Dove Creek, the last stop on our tour, began construction some time ago and has many homes from around 2016. Because the community is still expanding with new construction as well, this neighborhood offers a greater variety in homes. Many of the older homes flaunt more mature landscaping. In addition to variety in age, the prices in this community range from around $380,000 to well over $500,000. Also within minutes of the highway and shiny new retail, the best part about this neighborhood is its walking distance from Midlothian Community Park.

Pretty much sunny year round, parks in Texas are enjoyable almost every day. This 109 acre park is on its way to becoming easier and easier to enjoy. While phase 1 of construction is complete, phase 2 will boast a splash pad, numerous playgrounds, 4 sand volleyball pits, 5 baseball diamonds, 2 basketball courts, 1 multipurpose court, an amphitheater, and picnic pavilions all with lights for your convenience.
