Linear vs Rotational Golf Swing - Which is Right for You?

Описание к видео Linear vs Rotational Golf Swing - Which is Right for You?

Linear versus rotational golf swing. What style of golf swing do you have and which is right for you? In this golf lesson video, PGA Professional, Herman Williams, walks you though the elements of each style of golf swing with advice about what the right match up is for you and how to train for it.

The linear golf swing tends to be more of an arm swing with a more up and down, somewhat upright club path and plane with more forearm rotation in the impact zone. This may be preferred for a less mobile player with sufficient hand and arm strength. Linear players from the pro Tours include Payne Stewart, Ernie Els and Davis Love.

The rotary swing or rotational golf swing uses much more hip and trunk rotation, the club tends to move on a flatter, rounder swing plane and the clubface rotation is fairly minimal before and through impact. The rotary players of today tend to have a more "closed" clubface prior to impact so they can simply "turn and burn" as they say on Tour without worrying about timing the club face. Players in this group include Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, Ben Hogan and Lee Trevino.
