The best places to start your freediving journey:

🇪🇬Dahab, Egypt
There are many famous instructors based in Dahab, and this is also where I completed my Molchanovs Level 1 course. The Red Sea offers incredible visibility, a diverse range of marine life, and some of the most beautiful reefs and corals I’ve ever seen! The course and equipment rental prices in Egypt are relatively low compared to other diving destinations. Plus, you’ll find the largest freediving community in the world there!

🇮🇩Amed, Bali
You probably know Canggu or Ubud, but have you heard of Amed in Bali? Amed is a sleepy fishing village that sits under the impressive view of Mt Agung in Northeast Bali and it has become a hub for freedivers around the world. Here, you can escape the bustling tourist crowds of the South and embrace a more relaxed way of life, not to mention more affordable rents! The two best freediving schools here in Amed are: @apneabali and @apneistafreediving

🇲🇽Yucatán, Mexico
What makes the Yucatan peninsula unique is that you don’t dive in the ocean - you dive in “cenotes”, deep freshwater pools carved into the limestone from which this peninsula is formed. The water in those cenotes is normally warm and very clear. My fav part is: you get breathtaking underwater photos unlike anywhere else!

These are the places I would recommend for learning freediving.. But please also understand that I haven’t had the chance to visit all the places around the world. The more I travel, the longer my list of must-visit dive spots becomes🤣 But one thing I would definitely do is: starting the freediving journey in an open ocean!
