A specialised camera split light into three primary components—red, green, and blue—each recorded on separate black-and-white film strips. These strips were individually processed, dyed their respective hues, and expertly combined to produce breath-taking colour visuals with remarkable detail and realism.

In 2023, we restored Saraband for Dead Lovers for STUDIOCANAL UK. Using the original three-strip Technicolor elements, we meticulously scanned, restored, and colour-graded the film to bring its vibrant palette back to life. Our goal was to preserve the film's visual splendour for modern audiences while adapting it for contemporary formats.

In use until 1954, the Technicolor three-strip process remains an icon of cinema’s golden age. Restoration efforts like STUDIOCANAL's and Filmfinity Ltd’s keep this pioneering achievement alive, ensuring it continues to inspire and captivate audiences today.
