This Allwinner A13 tablet review goes hands on with a demo of this low cost tablet PC, available for around £40 in the UK (around $55 US).

It's a cheap 7-inch tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It's a 7-inch capacitive screen that sensitive to finger tip touches.

The resolution of 800x480 pixels is a little low res, this is the resolution you'd expect to find on a mobile but on a larger screen. However it's a cheap tablet so you can't expect more and it still looks pretty bright and vibrant.

The tablet itself has inputs for a 3.5mm headphone jack, mini USB port for charging and linking up to a PC.

The processor is an Allwinner A13 chip with 1GHZ and 512 MB RAM. A decent processor that works well considering the price point.

It runs Android 4.0, also known as Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Allwinner tablet has 4GB on internal Flash memory which is not a great deal of space when you start loading apps, music and video on the tablet. However, it has a TF Card slot which means you can buy a MicroSD card to slot in and increase the memory to 32GB -- plenty of space for apps and files such as movies and music.

There is no built-in 3G connectivity, but apparently the tablet will support a 3G dongle. Usual connectivity to the internet is handled via WiFi ,which works smoothly.

The tablet has a front-facing camera which is 1.3 megapixels so fairly low resolution but good enough for video calling with services such as Skype.

Given the very low price point for a tablet, the Allwinner A13 is good value. It's particularly suited for people looking for a cheap tablet who don't need all the additional features of an iPad or more expensive Android tablet. It could also be used as a starter or kids tablet.
