Valkyrie Profile running on DKWDRV USB loader.

Описание к видео Valkyrie Profile running on DKWDRV USB loader.

One word: Gamechanger

Long story short, DKWDRV is an enhanced replacement for the default emulator on "DECKARD" PS2 models, providing native compatibility instead of full software emulation like POPS. Therefore it's only available on SCPH-75000, 77000, 79000 and 90000.(with country code suffix)

Just recently the anonymous dev released the long awaited feature: USB loader
https://github.com/DKWDRV/DKWDRV

Basically an "ODE" for PS1 games on PS2 with factory hardware, which finally solves the biggest hurdle for PS2 gamers that want to play PS1 games without an optical drive. Long live POPS.

The program is still in very preliminary stage(no fancy GUI or configurators), you can try it by yourself and report for issues.

Recorded with Avermedia GC530 with PS2HDMI/Component fix ON.
My PS2 is an SCPH-90007. The video is 480i and transcoded into 960p with qsv_vpp advanced deinterlacer and scaling filter.
It doesn't look that sharp because it was deinterlaced, the game is pixel sharp and you can even see ditherings.

ffmpeg encoding parameters
-hwaccel qsv #(pre-input)
-vf vpp_qsv=deinterlace=advanced:w=1440:h=-1,scale=out_range=full -c:v av1_qsv -preset medium -g:v 120 -global_quality 18 -look_ahead 1 -look_ahead_depth 100 -c:a copy -id3v2_version 3 #(output)

I did notice there's only left audio channel, I found out the right channel is broken on my component cable.(not stereo sound bug) It's known CDDA and XA audio doesn't work yet, this causes some games to be completely silent with only SFX available. I chose Valkyrie Profile because it's the only game I have without missing XA audio and I'm lazy to play the game(first 35 minutes of prologue is simply dialogues).
There's a loading retry at 38:54, not sure if that's just my USB stick, games do load blazing fast.

For other Q&A please check out the github page:
1. No, I'm not the developer for this fine piece of work.
2. No, it's not available on PSX DVR, fat models and 70000 slims.
3. DIY only, I won't answer questions on how and what to do if yours doesn't work.
4. You still need PS1 memory cards to save your games, VMC is a planned feature but no ETA from the devs.
5. You need a good USB drive/stick for this, it seems like USB loader is sensitive to performance, especially FAT32 fragmentation.
6. You need PS2HDMI/Component fix ON if you have display trouble with your HDTV.
