This conversation sounds like it probably started at 6:21 pm on April 18, as marked on the audiotape. Steve Schneider and Dwayne (FBI negotiator) discuss women helping Koresh complete his manuscript, and how the milk sent in earlier in the siege for the children spoiled because they had no refrigeration. Discussions on Tape #244 are about the process of sending in milk and word processing supplies (cassette ribbons for a battery-operated typewriter). These supplies were sent in on the evening of April 18 at 7:40 pm. The discussions on Tape #244 end shortly after the delivered supplies are picked up and taken into the residence. The FBI tank and gas assault on the Mount Carmel Center residence began on April 19, 1993 at 6:00 am.]

On this negotiation Tape #244, Steve Schneider and Dwayne (an FBI negotiator) are discussing how it would facilitate David Koresh’s process of composing his commentary on the Seven Seals if FBI agents sent in [ribbon] cassettes [for a Casio Casiowriter CW16 Electronic Typewriter]. Dwayne confirms with Steve that when the manuscript is sent out it will be given to Koresh’s attorney Dick DeGuerin, DeGuerin will give it to historian Dr. J. Phillip Arnold, and then all of the people in the residence will come out. Dwayne notes that this is the first time that Koresh’s goals and the FBI agents’ goals will merge. Steve confirms that agreement is clear to him also. Dwayne says that he will call when the milk and supplies are ready to be sent in.

At 3:55 minutes into the tape, the phone is ringing. It rings for a while. Steve answers. It is Dwayne calling. They discuss the drop-off of the milk and the “tapes” procedure. Greg Summers will come out and pick up the items after the Bradley pulls to a distance. They discuss further after a wooden box is dropped off. There is confusion about where the box was left.

Dwayne inquires if Koresh is dictating his commentary on the Seven Seals. Steve says he thinks Koresh is really tired right now. Steve confirms that Koresh said he would dictate his commentary.

At 9:12 minutes into the tape, Dwayne calls back and confirms that it is the box of items that was dropped off. Greg Summers can go out and pick it up. Steve confirms that Greg has picked up the box and is returning to residence. Dwayne asks if Koresh has been able to get back to composing the manuscript. Steve says he saw Koresh talking to two persons upstairs, and Steve does not think Koresh has started dictating his commentary yet. Steve says that he wishes the incident earlier had not happened, because that was when Koresh started slowing down in composing the manuscript. [The incident earlier on April 18, 1993, was when Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEVs) removed and crushed vehicles remaining outside the residence.]

Steve confirms that Greg has reentered the residence with the box. Dwayne confirms the contents of the box with Steve. The items are milk, and cassette ribbons from Service Merchandise store [for a manual typewriter and a battery-operated word processor, which is the Casiowriter].
