Growing up in Japan, anime was everywhere and for years I did not even realize how much it controlled my time, my mind, and even my emotions. When I accepted Islam, I started to question everything, including what I was exposing myself to on a daily basis. Anime, for me, was not entertainment… it was a total escape from reality.

But Islam made me think about what feeds the heart. And anime as much as I loved it began to be a distraction from my prayers, my goals, and my peace of mind.
