The 18 bodies of the film industry have boycotted Zayed Khan, declaring him unwanted for his alleged involvement in ‘anti-interest’ activities, the announcement made at a press briefing held at BFDC’s Zahir Raihan Color Lab Hallroom on Wednesday.

Leaders of 18 film organizations were present at the time.

At the press conference, the leaders of the organizations alleged that Zayed Khan has been accused of sending text messages to artists not to “comply with the policy” formulated by all the organizations in April last year to bring the discipline and accelerate the work by reducing the cost, as a result, the minimum cost will be reduced by Tk 15 lakh.

Even though he was a member of the producers’ guild, his actions were against the interests of the association, it was also said at the time.

Alleging the embezzlement against Zayed at the time, the leaders told that he received Tk 6 lakh in cash directly from the event management for April 3, 2019, National Film Day cultural event.

However, Abdul Latif Bachchu, the chairman of the Finance Committee formed by the National Committee, repeatedly wrote to Zayed Khan requesting him to pay the Tk 6 lakh, but he did not pay any penny

For this reason, at an emergency meeting of 18 film-related organizations on July 14 decided to boycott Zayed Khan from all activities related to the film. From now on, no one will work with him indefinitely and no one will take part in any work with him.

It was further informed at the press briefing that “from now on, the film will be made only for those who will work following the policy formulated by the film family consisting of film-related organizations. Those who fail to comply with this policy will be banned.”

All producers or directors who try or work with banned artists will be expelled from their respective associations as per the constitution, i.e. their membership will be canceled.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Film Producers and Distributors Association had sent a show-cause notice to Zayed Khan for his alleged involvement in ‘activities against the interests of the organization’.
