옥스브리지 소케이센 연고전Oxbridge, Sōkeisen and the Yonsei-Korea Games: A Celebration of Sports and Camaraderie

이번 연고전에 초대를 받았다. 매년 가을이면 고려대와 연세대의 체육대회가 있다. 역사적으로 옥스브리지, 소케이센의 문화가 수입되어 연고전 그리고 고연전으로 정착되어 오늘날까지 이어지고 있다고 전해진다. 학생들과 졸업생들이 한곳에 모여 한마음으로 응원하는 모습을 보며 기분이 맑아졌다. 이러한 체험은 무료한 일상에 활력을 넣어준다. 매년 외국에서 온 교환학생들과 유학생들이 늘어나고 있어서 보기 좋다. 특히, 영국 유럽에서 그리고 미국에서 온 유학생들이 많아져서 더 놀라울 뿐이다. 잠실의 하늘로 울려퍼지는 우렁찬 응원소리와 함께 가을이 더 가까이 왔다는 걸 실감한다.
I was invited to this year’s Yonsei-Korea Games. Every fall, Korea University and Yonsei University hold an annual sports event. It’s said that historically, this tradition was influenced by the Oxbridge and Sōkeisen rivalries, eventually evolving into what is now known as the Yonsei-Korea (or Korea-Yonsei) Games. Watching the students and alumni come together, cheering in unison, brightened my mood. Experiences like this bring energy to an otherwise mundane routine. It’s nice to see an increasing number of exchange students and international students participating each year. What’s particularly surprising is the growing number of students from the UK, Europe, and the US. With the loud cheers echoing through the sky over Jamsil, I can truly feel that fall is upon us. - Dr. ClemS
