Good Riddance, 2020: The Year-End Holi-Daze Sing-Along Mash-Up Fundraiser Spectacular Spectacular!

Hello Friends of the Playhouse!

We hope you had a safe and relaxing holiday and are laying low for Black Friday in our current NM reset.

The Santa Fe Playhouse, with the help of the fabulous Karen Koestner, is working to put together a community-oriented virtual holiday event in the form of a heart-warming and fun karaoke sing-along variety show.

We are calling on you, for your wonderful voices, recipes, and personalized cocktails to fill our homes this holiday season and to help us feel the warmth of community and song as we socially distance during the winter months and stay safe through the holidays.

Join us in creating this new year-end tradition. The plan is to spotlight artists for full pieces, surrounded by the community compilation of Jingle Bells and other segments. Good Riddance, 2020: The Year-End Holi-Daze Sing-Along Mash-Up Fundraiser Spectacular Spectacular! will be released on December 18, 2020, available for free for the world.

We would love it if you could record (at least) TWO videos for us, detailed below.

VIDEO OPTION NUMBER ONE:
We are hoping to gather our community, through song, in a Jingle Bells Mash-up. You are all stars, and we want to share your talents!

This video can be you and/or your spouse, family, roommates, etc. singing “Jingle Bells” in its entirety. These Jingle Bells videos will be compiled and collaged together for a full community sing-along mashup. If you’d like to make up a verse or two as a parody about 2020, or the holidays this year, or COVID, anything you want - we welcome that as well! We all know “Jingle Bells, Batman smells” but what about “Jingle Bells, COVID hell, 2020 down the drain…” Get creative, get inspired, we want to hear your voice!

VIDEO NUMBER TWO:
The second video can be any other song - holiday-related or not. It can be an original song, a holiday duet, an acoustic rendition of your favorite song: dealers’ choice!

If you wish to send in more than two song videos, go for it! The whole point of this is to HAVE FUN and showcase your talents!

Make a quick video showing us how to make your favorite holiday-themed drink! Or your favorite quarantine drink! (Alcoholic or not :)
The Latke Mash:
Make a quick video showing us your favorite holiday or quarantine recipe!

THE IMPORTANT STUFF:
If you’d like to participate, the deadline for submissions is December 10, 2020. ALL video submissions should be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line “Holiday Video Submission” and should include your name and any other participants' names for the credits. If you are submitting an original song or parodied lyrics and want us to sing along, send the lyrics as well! If you would like a special introduction please let us know and we will do our best to introduce you appropriately.

For Jingle Bells, PLEASE USE THIS KARAOKE TRACK (   • JINGLE BELLS Traditional Song (Karaoke Wit...  ) so that it is all cohesive and in time for the editing process.

Please record in LANDSCAPE mode vs. portrait! Turn that phone on its side!

Please feel free to extend this invitation to anyone whom you think it would bring joy and comfort during this particular holiday season.

If you feel called to it, we would love for you to say something about the Santa Fe Playhouse, share a memory, say hello, let us and our wider audience know why you love the Playhouse or people you met at or though the Playhouse.

The Playhouse team will be doing the editing so there is no need for you to do any extraneous work that doesn’t excite you. However if you wish to do a little editing of your own video, we welcome the creativity! Add graphics, filters, whatever you’d like.

If your videos are not in by December 10th at 11:59 PM MST, we cannot guarantee the inclusion of your content.

We have included a promotional video that the SFP Staff and Karen put together, showing examples of what we’d like to create as well as speaking a bit more about the project and what we are asking for. We chose to sing Jingle Bell Rock, and Karen included an original song.

Any and all donations we receive from this holiday show will be donated to multiple organizations committed to providing service, food security, and shelter to our community. This list may grow and change as the season goes on, but we plan to donate all the proceeds to organizations right here in Northern New Mexico.
