Jerry Sloan coached the Jazz for 23 years. Then, one night in February 2011, he quit. There are different accounts of what was actually said, and how events actually went down. But the facts are: Jerry Sloan and Deron Williams had a halftime argument, the next day Sloan officially quit.

Resentment had been building for some time. Sloan and D-Will butted heads for four-and-a-half seasons, things were bound to blow up sooner or later. Why couldn’t the hard nosed coach and willful point guard get along? Did you see the adjectives I used to describe ‘em? That’s why.
