The town I live in has lots of history that I love to learn about. I decided to film my original song "Kaw River Robbery" in front of the Eudora, KS bank that it took place at back in 1909. An 18 year old boy named Ross Bullock rode his horse over from Lawrence one day, with intention to rob this bank. He got away with it once and so he came back a second time a month later, along with a friend. It was a tragic day in Eudora when one of their beloved towns people, Fred Starr got shot by Ross before they took off on their horses with the loot, along the Kansas River. A group of men from the town caught up with them & Ross, having one bullet left, attempted to shoot himself but it didn't quite work out for him. They put him dying on display down at the city hall for the town to mock & torture him for the crimes he had committed. There is soo much to this story that we will never understand, but I decided to put a bit of a twist on it myself, by painting his home life to be quite heart wrenching, with his brother & father recently passing away & with the fate of the family farm in his name, he thought he had no other choice but to commit this crime. This song is based on true events in the town of Eudora, KS but it's meant to be taken with a grain of salt. You never know what drove someone to dig their own grave.
